Our Vancouver school photography guide for parents explains how we create relaxed, playful, and child-led sessions that capture natural, timeless portraits full of personality. Every child is given space to shine, and parents receive galleries with real expressions that they’ll actually want to display on their walls.

Get ready for picture day

Start pulling outfits together and keep things simple. Check out our guide on “What to Wear for Photo Day“. No drastic haircuts the night before, please. A clean face, tidy hair, and comfortable clothing go a long way. We’ll take care of the rest on photo day.

PHOTO DAY: Real smiles, zero pressure

Picture day happens during the school day in a calm, familiar space. Children are photographed one at a time in a relaxed, playful way, with no pressure to smile or pose. We keep things light, quick, and child-led — and staff are always close by for comfort and reassurance. Most kids finish their turn smiling, giggling, or proudly telling you all about it at pickup.

Galleries are ready

Parents receive a private online gallery with multiple images to choose from. Ordering happens directly through the gallery, with digital files, prints, and collections available at a variety of price points.
1 week window

Ordering deadline

Orders are due one week after galleries are published. We keep a firm order cutoff so the entire school can be processed together, which helps keep costs reasonable for families. Print orders are not available after this date.
~7-10 days later

Print delivery

Digital purchases are delivered to your inbox immediately after checkout. Galleries remain online for three months, but we recommend downloading your images right away (future you will thank you). Print products, including class photos, are delivered to the school for distribution about 7–10 days after ordering closes. Turnaround may be slightly longer during peak seasons like graduations and the holidays.

Picture day comes with a lot of questions — especially when it involves little people. Here are the questions parents ask us most often.

Photos are taken from the waist up, so focus on the top. Simple shirts or dresses without logos photograph best. Soft knit textures and patterns like plaid and floral work well.

If your school uses uniforms, stick with those. If a black background is being used, please avoid solid black or very dark blue tops so your child doesn’t blend into the background.

We do a quick check before each photo to wipe faces and tidy things up, but we don’t restyle hair or aim for “perfect.” Flyaways, cowlicks, and a bit of mess are all part of childhood, and we embrace that.

If hair is important to you, a little product goes a long way. Please also make sure nails are clean and trimmed, temporary tattoos are removed (unless you want them included), and lips are moisturized if they tend to get dry.

Optional retouching for things like scratches or blemishes is available at ordering.

That’s completely okay. We take a gentle, patient approach and follow your child’s lead. There’s no pressure to perform, and staff are always nearby for reassurance.

We always try, but we never force it. Often a little time, curiosity, or a familiar face nearby makes all the difference.

Yes! Sibling photos are included whenever siblings attend the same school. These are always a parent favourite, and doesn’t cost extra.

Although most schools do not have retake days, we offer prepaid mini-sessions in spring and fall that you can sign up for privately, that offer portraits in the same fine art style.

About 3 weeks after picture day, you’ll receive a private, password-protected online gallery where you can view and order photos.

Digital images, prints, and collections at different price points are available so families can choose what works best for them.

Pricing is in line with what families are used to paying for traditional school photos. There are options for every budget, from simple keepsakes to full digital galleries and collections. Ordering is completely optional, and parents only purchase what they love.

You don’t need to order it. A complimentary printed class photo is included with every online order and will be delivered to the school for distribution. For privacy reasons, digital versions of class photos are not available, and we ask that class photos not be shared online.
