BEHIND THE LENS

Hi, I’m Rochelle – a mom, a photographer and a storyteller

I live in beautiful Port Coquitlam with my husband and two kiddos. My babies aren’t babies anymore — which is exactly why I know how precious these fleeting early years are, and how important it is to capture and remember the little things that make each child special.

As a Vancouver school photographer, my sessions are carefully designed to bring out authentic reactions, creating portraits that families treasure for years to come.

Because they grow up in the blink of an eye.

  • Rochelle took our school pictures and all the staff and children had fun! The results were stunning. We can’t wait to have her back to our school this year. Rochelle has a special gift to bring out the most unique, natural and beautiful pictures, she is also lovely and very professional.

MY Philosophy

The Secret Sauce to real smiles

To date, I’ve photographed over 11,000 children, from babbling babies to temperamental teens, and everyone in between! Parents often ask for my secret to getting those authentic expressions. Here it is:

  • I don’t ever ask a child to smile (and for sure not to “say cheese!”). In stead, I engage them in chatter, games, and fun prompts, and the smiles flow naturally.
  • I don’t take myself too seriously. I will dance, do impressions, tell jokes, and fiercely debate the best Paw Patrol characters to get my littlest clients to trust me and open up.
  • I respect every child for who they are. A beautiful portrait doesn’t necessarily mean one with a huge smile. It is one where we can see into the soul of the child, and that is often through a pensive stare, or a cheeky smirk, or a serious look.
  • I take extra time when needed. Whether kids have sensitivities, are neurodivergent, or just very shy, I work closely with teachers and EAs to make sure we approach each child within their comfort zone, without pressure, and without rushing.
